In November 2000 the Florentine real estate company, headed by the entrepreneur
Riccardo Fusi, took over the entire holding of Bonaparte Hotel Group, 8 hotels
in Lombardy in the 4 star business market segment. In July 2001 after a process
of re-branding UNA Hotels & Resorts was created, with the specific aim of
setting up a new Italian chain of hotels. The launching of the new buildings started
in 2003 with the opening of the Florence UNA Hotel Vittoria, a “designer” hotel
created by converting a factory in the San Frediano quarter of Florence. 2004
saw the opening of UNA Hotel Bologna and UNA Hotel Malpensa, and in 2005 UNA Hotel
Palace in Catania and UNA Poggio dei Medici in Scarperia (Florence province) followed
by the opening of UNA Hotel Napoli in spring 2006. The original project of the
chain will be completed with the opening of Roma and Villa Le Maschere in Barberino
di Mugello (Florence province).
Within a few years, UNA Hotels & Resorts became the name that best represents
the Italian hotel market. There are now 32 hotels with the UNA Hotels & Resorts and UNAWAY Hotels logo. Together with UNAWAY
Hotels the number of rooms available totals 2.972.
